Boys Noize = Zedd + Mr. Oizo + DJ Shadow + Pilo
“I really try to sum up my two to three hour set in 70 minutes,” the German producer told residentadvisor.net on his new album, Fabriclive 72. Summing up a DJ set is exactly what he did, as the album gives a good sample of the harsh, techno sound that you would hear in a Boys Noize show. The album starts off with up-tempo electro-house beats that would be all too fitting for a day club environment, then eases into deeper house and heavier bass that forces the target audience to visualize being in an underground, laser-fueled rave. Some of the album highlights include the bouncy, synth-heavy “Pegasus,” the funky “Meat Dancing,” and the high energy, European electro-house beat, “Nothing but Pleasure,” with heavy drops and repetitive female vocals that will quicken the listener’s heart rate. –Julia Sachs
