Piano Interrupted = Roger Eno + Tycho
Mixing electronic elements with classical arrangements on a baby grand piano, duo Tom Hodge (on piano) and Franz Kirmann (electronic extraordinaire) have created a soundscape laden with emotional depth. The mix feels like a series of hymns performed in a discotheque, transforming a club-like atmosphere into an experience both spiritual and mind-expanding. “Cross Hands,” with a wooden tonality in the composition, created a sense of someone wandering through a forest, while “The Unified Field” launched that wandering element into action. This organic component of the album is its strength, with vivid imagery in the melodies that connect a multitude of styles, growing deeper with each listening. –Brinley Froelich
