André DuBois is a stylist, designer, Ogden resident and personal shopper under the brand Rather Unique. He also created Gershon, a line of clothing and accessories.

“Rather Unique is a personal shopping service who shops on any type of budget. That’s my whole perspective,” says DuBois. “It’s not all about the labels that you wear, but the style that you bring forth.”

“All through life I realized that everybody wants to look good and feel good,” says DuBois. “We’re all attracted to beauty. I think fashion-wise it’s all about to know your sizing. That’s the biggest thing. And that’s the biggest thing I can ever give anybody is just know your size.”

About his inspiration, DuBois says, “I liked Harlem Nights growing up with Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor cause they dressed up in whatever, with the tuxes and the hats and stuff like that. Also New Jack City. In the hip hop world I always respected Sean Combs—Puff Daddy.”

“My mom always had wonderful style,” says DuBois. “She’s a shoe person and she always shopped on sale, always made sure to look good but also didn’t go broke by doing it. You know?”

About Ogden, his current home, DuBois says, “I love it. It’s really, really cool. There is always like some concerts to go to or comedy show to catch or good food, different places to eat at and stuff like that. So I mean, I think it’s really on the rise though. It’s very affordable.”

“You don’t want to take nobody’s opinion, you can always just believe in a mirror. The mirror never lies to you,” says Dubois.
