Emotional Oranges @ Metro Music Hall 10.09 w/ Chiiild
Show Reviews
I first became familiar with Emotional Oranges when I saw photos from a fellow photographer that I follow on Instagram. Their unique stage production caught my eye and I immediately knew it was a show I should cover for SLUG. It was a very chilly Wednesday evening, but that didn’t stop an energetic crowd from showing their support at the Metro, located on the outskirts of the city.
I arrived just in time to catch the opener, Chiiild, beginning their set in a dimly dark and smoky stage. The up-and-coming R&B band got the positive vibes flowing for Emotional Oranges. Performing beautiful hits such as “Count Me Out” and “Back to Life,” Chiiild had just assembled a few months prior to going on tour.
Next up, the LA duo Emotional Oranges took the stage a little after 9pm with a smoky, back-lit scene. Performing some of their slower hits before building the energy, their mix of funky bass, break-beat drums and jazzy guitars created a refreshing sound that resonated with the Metro crowd. They played fan favorites “Personal,” “Good to Me” and “Don’t Be Lazy.”
