Peter Murphy featuring David J @ The Depot 01.22
The songs sounded great, and Murphy is in top shape. This wasn’t simply a night of nostalgia. It was vibrant, bold and slightly dangerous. … read more
Julien Baker @ The Depot 11.20 W/ Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy...
When I first heard Julien Baker, I was immediately taken aback by her honest songwriting and a set of pipes that seem to open her up—baring her soul. Her introspective lyrics coupled with a soft delivery lulls one’s defenses away. She is absolutely amazing. … read more
Angel Olsen @ The Depot 10.17
In a way, seeing Angel Olsen is such a treat because she reminds us to show up for ourselves, to sing our own songs clearly and without pretense. … read more
OK, So This is Pop Perfection: Poptone @ The Depot...
The night is filled with Tones on Tail tracks, five of which I’ve never had the opportunity to hear live. Maybe I’m more hungry for the songs that I haven’t seen live in 15 years, but I think a large part of what makes tonight work better than the 2002 tour show the presence of Haskins and Dompe. This is Poptone storming the stage. … read more

With her multi-colored and ratted-out hair and bizarre fashion sense that bridged aspects of punk and new wave with something entirely her own, Lauper was the most outrageous person I had ever seen, and the world admired and celebrated her for her uniqueness. … read more
Alice In Chains at The Depot 07.20
I don’t think it’s legal, to be perfectly honest, to have such an amazing Monday night. There’s some Constitutional or possibly even galactic law against it. But the awesome simply cannot be contained when Alice in Chains is in town. To that was added the fact they were performing at The Depot, quite possibly the
Tame Impala @ The Depot 05.29 with Kuroma
I arrived at The Depot right as Kuroma, who apparently have members of MGMT’s touring band, were walking on stage and getting into their first song. These guys play a really great blend of psychedelic rock and sunny, beach-ready indie pop. After they finished their first song and I’d gotten settled on the main floor, their guitarist ran off stage and disappeared for about three minutes because he’d left his electric guitar on the service elevator on the side of the stage. … read more
The English Beat @ The Depot 05.21 with The Interrupters,...
Tonight is not the first time I’ve seen the English Beat and I’m certain it won’t be the last. Last year I covered their gig and I’m sure tonight’s show will not be a disappointment. I arrive at the Depot just in time to catch the Show Me Island set. … read more
