Jazzy Olivo describes the two years from 2015 to 2017 as the years of silence. After pursuing a career in acting, Olivo felt she was losing her sense of identity. She moved to Mexico to find herself, but it was no quick fix. Instead, she tried to listen more, to return to her sonic roots and let herself experiencing music without ego. Olivo has built a soulful, fusion sound, which is crafted from soundscapes rooted in Olivo’s Dominican heritage and diasporic background. Even the name Jazzy, a nickname from childhood, reflects Olivo’s desire to combine history with feeling.
