30 Days in the Valley: A Snowboard Odyssey

30 Days in the Valley: A Snowboard Odyssey

Over the last month Utah was been the hot spot for events especially those of the snow persuasion. Not only did we have the Winter Dew Tour rolling through for the first time ever, we also held the final Grand Prix of Snowboarding contest to determine who would be heading to Vancouver to respect Team America (fuck yeah!), played host to the X-Dance film festival for it’s 10th anniversary and also received about 8 ft. of snow in a week making for some last minute photo shoots and epic riding conditions in an otherwise lack luster early season. Fortunately (and unfortunately) I was there to observe it all for you! … read more

From Issue 197, May 2005
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to drown in the shitty seas of capitalism while trying to purchase frivolous items needed to contain our boredom between eating, shitting and fucking. Basically, that’s what we are all on this planet to do, right? Eat, shit, fuck. The rest is just killing time between the next fabulous meal and all three at the same time if you’re lucky. … read more

Dew Tour Opening Party at the Jibyard

On Thursday, Jan., 14th The Jib Yard got the Winter Dew Tour started with a bang at their opening party.  For one night the Jib Yard transformed the indoor terrain park into something that resembled a warehouse party.  Grant Avenue was closed down and if it hadn’t been for the misty weather the night may have taken on more of a block party atmosphere. When I arrived around 10 p.m. the place was jammed, but the bar tenders kept the service fairly speedy despite the size of the crowd. … read more

Dan called me up and told me about a 40-stair straight rail he wanted to do in Salt Lake and I couldn’t for the life of me think of where one of those would be. Every rail in this town has been mapped out and sessioned heavily over the years. Having only lived here a few years, Dan sees things through fresh eyes. Jeremy Jones Sandy, Utah In the winter of 2008 Jeremy Jones showed me this gap into this baseball field and it was just about the biggest thing I’d ever seen at the time. The snow was never right to make it happen that season, but last year we had tons of snow early and to
